In the past I tried to make paleo shepherd’s pie with mashed sweet potato but found the result to be too sweet for my taste. Since then I’ve been making it with cauliflower puree which is very light in both flavor and texture, and perfectly balances the rich flavor of the meat in the pie. Try it with mushrooms or without. Either way, satisfaction guaranteed!
- Steaming cauliflower to the desired tenderness is the key to being able to blend it using the blender afterwards. Make sure you boil the cauliflower for at least 15 minutes.
